What We Believe
THE SCRIPTURES. We believe that the Scripture is God’s own holy inspired Word. It is, in its original form, complete, without error, always agrees with Itself, is authoritative over all humanity in all respects of life, and is sufficient in all manners of life and godliness. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
GOD. There is one eternal unchanging God, revealed in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All three are distinct, yet one God and are equal in essence and nature possessing the same eternal attributes of perfection. God is sovereign over all and the chief end of all creation is to glorify Him. (Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 11:36)
MAN & DEPRAVITY. God created man in His image as the crowning work of creation. God created them male and female thus each one’s gender is a gift from God and therefore, cannot be altered or changed. Originally man was created and placed in a state of innocence, without sin. When man sinned in the garden, the whole human race fell into sin and thus death and the curse came upon all of humanity and the whole of creation. Since that time, all men are born in sin with a sin nature in total depravity. All men are dead in their sins, walk according to the course of this world under the deception of Satan, are sons of disobedience, serve the lust of their flesh and mind, and are by nature children of wrath, headed for eternal condemnation in Hell. (Genesis 1:26-30, Romans 5:12, Ephesians 2:1-3)
SALVATION. Since all of mankind is born in total depravity, each person’s greatest need is salvation. God ordained salvation according to His sovereign plan from eternity past. Christ and Christ alone has accomplished salvation by His sinless life, the shedding of His own blood on the cross for our sins, and His resurrection from the dead. Salvation is received by repenting of one’s sins, placing faith in Christ alone and calling upon Him as Savior and Lord. Salvation is solely by God’s grace through faith and is not in any way earned or merited by works. Salvation was determined in eternity past when God elected those whom He foreknew. God calls all whom He has elected, brings them to the knowledge of Truth, and to repentance and saving faith. At the moment they believe and call upon the Lord, God regenerates them, indwells them with His Holy Spirit, gives them everlasting life, justifies them fully, imputes to them the very righteousness of Christ, and sanctifies them for His own purpose and will. God keeps all who are saved by His power, and God will without exception bring all who are saved into His presence in eternal glory. (Romans 8:28-39, 10:4-14, John 1:12-13, Ephesians 1:3-14, 2:1-10)
SPIRITUAL GIFTS. We believe that God has gifted every true believer with spiritual gifts for the edifying of His body in love. Each believer is to exercise his or her spiritual gifts in the power of the Holy Spirit that the church might grow and be edified into the likeness of Christ. We believe that the sign gifts, such as speaking in tongues, healing, and inspired prophecy, belonged only to the time of the New Testament and have since ceased with the passing of the Apostles. We also believe that the Bible, being complete and sufficient, is the sole and only special revelation of God today. We are convinced by Scripture that there is no new inspired revelation coming from God whether spoken or otherwise until the return of our Savior, Jesus Christ. (Acts 5:12-13, Romans 12:3-8, 1 Corinthians 12 & 13, Ephesians 4:11-16, Revelation 22:18-19)
ASSOCIATION. We are an independent, non-denominational church, however we do work with and associate with other churches who are of like faith and order to proclaim the gospel of our Lord and to advance His kingdom. We are not a Southern Baptist Convention Church, however we do currently ascribe to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message as our doctrinal statement. For a link to this statement click here.
Critical Race Theory and Social Justice:
Many professing churches and Christians in our day have unwittingly been deceived by the lie of Critical Race Theory and Social Justice. We believe that these ideologies are nothing more than the philosophies of men and the doctrines of demons which are in complete opposition to Christ and His Word. They are absolutely detrimental to the spiritual health and the calling of Christ upon His church and we, with full resolve, reject them. We hold to the statement on Social Justice, which can be found here.
